Spring fun

It’s been a long time since I have posted and I apologize! I have been very focused on getting through WIDA testing and other things.

For the last few weeks of school we are able to steer away from the curriculum and do some fun things. So…I have picked some fun topics for each group. In second grade we are working on weather. We read the book, “When the Storm Comes,” by Linda Ashman this week. This is a GREAT book filled with not only tier 3 vocabulary, but also some great tier 2 vocabulary words. We learned the vocabulary and then practiced it with a spinner game to allow students to practice the vocabulary orally.

Last, I had students write about what they do before, during and after a storm. It was an easy to implement opportunity to practice speaking with these terms. Here are the sentence frames we utilized:
